The Princess and the Frog – Review

The Princess and The Frog

The first time I heard about this movie, I just knew it was going to rub a few people the wrong way. Disney’s first black princess and she’s from New Orleans… Hmmm that’s just begging for someone to pull the race card.

And of course, that’s what happened! LOL

Some people are just never satisfied! First it’s a big deal that Disney doesn’t have a black princess, then when they finally make a black princess… They get mad because of the way they portrayed blacks in the movie!

I loved the movie!

I think it was one of the best movies Disney has made in a long time. I liked all of the songs and I really liked that they didn’t make her ghetto!
She was well spoken, she was a hard worker and she was beautiful! They didn’t make her hair all long and flowing, which I liked because they made her look like most black little girls.

It was obvious they tried to stay away from most of the black stereotypes. They didn’t make her rich or a real princess but they didn’t make them poor either. She couldn’t dance (they made it a point for her to say that) which is one of the most known stereotypes. They didn’t mention fried chicken not once… LOL

I did have a problem with some of the other characters…

The firefly Ray seemed really umm how do I say this… Crack-headish! I’m not kidding. He really looked like a crackhead and even referred to himself as Ray-Ray once. Typical… All black people know a Ray-Ray!

But that’s not it! You guys will never believe what other typical black name was in the movie… You guys are going to think I’m lying. We all know one…

POOKIE!

I’m not kidding! LOL

Anyway, the way they portrayed family, friendship, loyalty, hard work paying off… was perfect!
A great movie to teach kids real life values and not just wishing on the star.

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
